lES CANARIS DE CHANT

All the canaries sing but the intensity of their song and the quality of this last depend on the races. In fact the males sing in order to delimit their territory.

The Harz Canary

Harz  or Harzer Roller is most famous of the canaries of song, the canary of song per excellence, having a warbling very different from that of the other canaries. This species was essentially developed for the quality of its song, this in the area of Germany bearing the same name at the last century, but its breeding was generalized there after. Its typical plumage for thecanaries is of yellow color even green and its song was the subject of selections lasting more than one century. We distinguishe four reasons in his song, indicated turns :

– the rolled deep one : the bird emits a ‘ rolled r’ combined with the vowels or diphthongs ‘ u’, ‘ o’ and ‘ ou’.

– the growl : resemble a bearing the low ones, the ‘ deeproou-roou-roou’ is particularly appreciated.

– flutes: include clear and separate notes including one ‘d’ resembling to a ‘ dou’.

– the tinkled deep one : result from the combination from ‘l’ and vowels being able to become ‘ read-lu’, ‘ lo-lo-lo’ or ‘lou-lou-lou’.

Being a rather robust canary, its reproduction is rather easy, the song of the young canaries can be improved using a Master singer. But if the selection for its appearance does not pose too many problems, that of its song rests on a work of long breath. It must profit from excellent professors.

Malinois canary

Malinois : a little larger than Harz and pale yellow color, its song more is jerked, rolled and soft. Its song then makes think of water noises (Waterslager in Flemish) and is done contrary toHarz, with open nozzle. It comprises twelve melodies which recall the noise of water running drop by drop, the murmur of a brook running on the stones, the tinkling of the bells and the noise of a winder of a clock. Slightly thinner and slimmer than that of the ordinary canary, the silhouette of Malinois is a little curved.

The Timbrado Canary

Timbrado : not really known nowadays, it strangly resembles the canary of the Canaries , its song resembles the tinkling of small bells.

The American Canary

The Américan : as its name indicates it was born in the U.S.A. it is a kind of regrouping of the attributes of all the races: it is thus a good singer. It is difficult to find of it in Europe if it is not during national exposures.
